Situation:
A trendy coffee shop in NYC, “The Coffee Kaleidoscope,” wanted to redesign their previous ordering system due to negative feedback and low sales. Customers found the old system confusing, slow, and limited in customization options, which led to frustration and missed orders.

App Purpose:
The new “The Coffee Kaleidoscope” mobile app provides a simple, easy-to-use interface with a smooth design flow. Customers can quickly browse the menu, fully customize drinks with size, milk type, flavors, toppings, and special instructions, place orders for pickup or delivery, save favorites, and earn loyalty rewards.

User Experience Goals:

  • Simplify the ordering process with an intuitive, easy-to-navigate flow.

  • Offer more customization options while keeping the experience straightforward.

  • Increase sales and customer satisfaction with a clear rewards system and real-time order updates.

User Journey Highlights:

  • Discover the App: Customer downloads the app after seeing a promotion.

  • Browse & Customize: They select a latte, choose oat milk, add a flavor shot, and include a special instruction like “extra hot.”

  • Order & Pay: They choose pickup or delivery and complete payment quickly.

  • Rewards & Follow-up: Loyalty points are added automatically, and the app suggests drinks based on their preferences.
